Portland Thunder News Release
PORTLAND, ORE. - Thunder wide receiver Eric Rogers was just too darn successful to stay in Portland.
Rogers, who compiled 73 receptions for 903 yards and 27 touchdowns in just nine games for the Thunder, heads to the CFL's Calgary Stampeders, who signed him earlier today.
"Obviously it's a huge opportunity for Eric," said Head Coach Matthew Sauk. "We wish him all the best in Calgary, but now it's time for some other guys to step up and try to fill that void. It's not easy to replace a guy who puts up 100 yards and three touchdowns a game."
The Thunder will attempt to replace Rogers' production with the re-activated Douglas McNeil III and newly assigned wide receiver Kevin Cummings from Oregon State.
The Thunder, who played without Rogers in Saturday's 61-40 loss in Cleveland, will try to bounce back on Saturday, July 12, against the Los Angeles KISS in the Moda Center.
