
Rogers Fan Camp Winners Announced

Brandon, MB. -- Four teams and over fifty youngsters have been chosen to attend the7th Annual Rogers Fan Camp Skate with the Wheat KingsonWednesday, February 1stat Westman Communications Group Place.
The four teams will be split into several groups and will run through a series of drills and skill events from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Joining them will be members of the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings, who kick off a 2-game series Wednesday night in Saskatoon against the Blades.
The four winning teams - all under the age of nine - that will be attending include theBrandon ScotiaMcLeod Predators, theBrandon McDonalds Novice Flames, theHamiota Novice Huskiesand theKillarney Novice Stars.
The training will be coordinated by Wheat Kings' assistant coachesDwayne Gylywoychuk andDarren Ritchie as well as veteran members of the Western Hockey League club including CaptainMark Stone, netminderBrandon Anderson, bluelinerBrodie Melnychukand newly acquired centerKevin Sundher.
In addition to the on ice training, the future Wheat Kings will receive a poster, courtesy ofRogers, an opportunity to meet members of the team; get their autographs and have dinner with their hockey heroes. As well, all of the players will receive complimentary tickets to Brandon's game against the visiting Swift Current Broncos onFriday, February 24th.
Over one hundred teams, representing over two dozen communities, entered this year's contest. Among the other communities participating in this year's contest wereBoissevain, Glenboro, Virden, Holland, Souris, Carberry, Shilo, Minnedosa, Birtle, Foxwarren, Gladstone, Wawanesa, Neepawa, McCreary, Peguis, Carman, Harney, Russell, Manitou, Notre Dame, Melita, Oakville, Rock Lake, Grandview, Gilbert Plains, Winkler, Springfield andBottineau, North Dakota.
On the ice, the Wheat Kings hope to snap a 4-game losing streak Wednesday night in Saskatoon. The Blades will host Brandon again on Friday, before the Wheat Kings return home to play host to the defending Champion Kootenay Ice on Saturday night.
