Rodriguez drives in go-ahead run in 8th, Cards win 1-0

JUPITER, FL- Palm Beach secured their 20th win of the season today as they defeated Jupiter 1-0 at Roger Dean Stadium.

In a game that featured only ten combined hits, Cardinals' first baseman Jonathan Rodriguez collected three, including a RBI single in the bottom of the 8th that would prove to be the winning run.

Starting pitcher Corey Baker got the nod for Palm Beach only four days after being called up from Peoria (Single-A). Baker was able to piece together a solid Advanced-A debut as the right hander tossed 4 innings, gave up 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4 Hammerheads batters.

Danny Miranda collected his first win of the season, throwing hitless 7th and 8th innings. Heath Wyatt notched his 3rd save as he slammed the door shut on Jupiter in the 9th.

The Cardinals were 1-11 with runners in scoring position today while the Hammerheads were 0-1. The Palm Beach pitching staff faced only 3 batters over the minimum as they threw a combined 3-hitter.

After the league-wide off day tomorrow, the Cardinals will host the Charlotte Stone Crabs for a three game series starting on Tuesday.
