Rod Baker Named PBL Coach of the Month
April 1, 2009 - Premier Basketball League (PBL) News Release
Chicago, IL - Rochester RazorSharks Head Coach Rod Baker was named PBL Coach of the Month for March.
Baker guided the RazorSharks to a perfect 7-0 record in the month. The RazorSharks finished the regular season with a 16-3 record and are the Eastern Division champions.
"It is obviously an honor to be connected to this type of recognition," said Baker. "We have had success but it is directly attributed to the type of players we have. They allow me to coach them."
Rochester finished the regular season averaging a league-high 123.1 points per game while holding their opponents to 101.5 points per game, good for fourth overall in the league. Rochester's 21.6 average margin of victory was tops in the PBL.
Rochester set a PBL single-game record by scoring 176 points in a victory over the Chicago Throwbacks on March 28.
"I am thrilled that Rod is the PBL Coach of the Month," said RazorSharks Owner and President Orest Hrynwak. "Rod works hard to making the RazorSharks a well oil machine that purrs. The entire team knows their responsibilities when they enter the court and it has shows. It has paid off in the last few regular season games. I am sure Rod will make the 2009 RazorSharks a historic PBL team."
The RazorSharks look to build on their strong play when they visit the Manchester Millrats at 7:00PM on Thursday night in Game one of the opening round of the playoffs.
