New York Boulders News Release
(Ramapo, N.Y. September 3) - Pat Moran pitched six strong innings and Billy Alvino had two RBI including the go-ahead sacrifice fly in the sixth as Rockland won its season finale 5-4 over the Lincoln Saltdogs Monday afternoon at Provident Bank Park.
Moran allowed two earned runs on seven hits, while striking out three. Garrett Johnson gave up two runs (one earned) out of the bullpen, but bridged the gap to Adrian Martin, who picked up a five-out save, his 19th of the season.
The Boulders opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Phil Cuadrado. Rockland added to its lead in the second on Alvino's run-scoring single, which made it 2-0. Chris Valencia's RBI base hit pushed the lead out to three and then Rockland took advantage of a Lincoln error to go up 4-0.
Nate Wilder's solo homer in the fifth pulled the Saltdogs to within two runs, but Alvino's sac fly made it 5-2. In the eighth, Matt Forgatch's RBI single brought Lincoln to within three runs, before the Saltdogs scored an unearned run on a Rockland error. Martin, however, got Wilder to fly out to center field with the bases loaded, which ended the threat.
Lincoln went down 1-2-3 in the ninth as the Boulders secured the win to finish the season at 48-52, in third place in the Can-Am League.
