(Ramapo, NY) -The Rockland Boulders of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseaball (CanAm League) announced today that they have hired Jamie Keefe to fill their managerial vacancy. Keefe, who earned the league's Manager-of-the-Year award while with the Pittsfield Colonials in 2011, replaces Dave LaPoint, who managed the team for its first two seasons.

A native of Rochester, New Hampshire, Keefe, 39, was a third round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Pirates and ascended as high as the AAA level during his nine-year pro playing career, primarily as an infielder. His managerial career includes stints in both the Frontier and CanAm Leagues, where he has amassed more than 400 career victories. He led Pittsfield to playoff appearances in 2010 and 2011, and was named Manager-of-the-Year by the CanAm League after the 2011 season. He spent this past season as the GM/Field Manager of the Pittsfield Suns in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

It is a winning pedigree that made Keefe's selection a clear choice for Boulders management. "We have one on-field objective for our ever-growing fan base and that is building a championship team," stated Team President Ken Lehner. "As a result, Boulders Baseball is going to be an aggressive, high energy brand of ball this summer. Our sights are set on the playoffs and in order to achieve that next step we need to match up and compete with Quebec and New Jersey. Jamie embraced these objectives and challenges in the interview process and that is why he is the second manager in the history of the organization."

Keefe's reputation as an intense leader and competitor was evident in his initial reflections on his new position. "There's so much excitement to be with such a strong organization as the Boulders, and to work with such dedicated ownership," Keefe beamed. "We're trying to go in a direction that puts us in the playoffs, that's our top priority. In Provident Bank Park, we have the most beautiful ballpark in independent ball and winning will only enhance the great support that the fan base provides."

While he is looking forward to the on-field challenges, Keefe is equally intent on working with other elements of the 2012 CanAm Organization-of-the-Year. "It's great that we have such an emphasis that extends beyond baseball. I'm looking forward to working to give back to the community with camps and charity work, as the Boulders have done so successfully in the past."

On Thursday, December 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, the Boulders will host a meet-and-greet with Keefe and Boulders players at Provident Bank Park. This free event will have a festive holiday theme and more details will be released in coming days.
