Rockies top Owlz in 10 innings

July 6, 2005 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release

The Casper Rockies began and ended their game same way on Tuesday night in Orem, with a two-run home run. Cole Garner tagged Steven Marek's fastball over the left field wall in the 1st inning putting the Rockies on top early.

Orem battled back to eventually tie the score at 3-3 in the 7th inning. Both the Rockies and Owlz bullpens were tremendous, holding the opposition to no runs until the 10th.

Eric Young Jr. walked to start the 10th inning and then Kyle Blumenthal smacked a two-run shot out of the park for the game winner.

The 5-3 win got the Rockies five-day road swing off on the right note. Brett Strickland pitched three innings of relief for the win and closer Andrew Johnston closed the door for his 3rd save of '05. Starter Alan Johnson went the first five for Casper, striking out six and allowing just two runs.

The Rockies and Owlz continue their three-game set tonight at 7:05.
