Casper Ghosts News Release
The Casper Rockies won their second straight game over Idaho Falls, winning an exciting 6-5 contest on Sunday afternoon. The win keeps the Rockies on the playoff heels of Orem and Ogden. Casper came into play Sunday needing a win and the offense came up big to start the game with the pitching coming up big in the end.
Casper took the led on a 5th inning Chris Cook two-run homer. It was Cook's 13th blast of the season, tying him for the Pioneer League lead. Cook had two of Casper's 11 hits on the day. The Rockies also stole five bases, two each from Corey Wimberly and Eric Young, and another from Daniel Mayora.
The Rockies got some solid pitching out of the bullpen. Starter Brandon Durden struggled in his 4.2 innings. He allowed the Chukars five runs but did strikeout six men. Jay Metzger relieved Durden and pitched 2.1 perfect innings to earn his team-high, fifth win.
Brett Strickland worked a perfect eighth before Andrew Johnston finished the game. Johnston picked up his league-high 16th save, working out of a bases loaded situation in the 9th.
Casper and Idaho Falls play another early game on Monday. 4:05 is the first pitch time. Aneury Rodriguez versus Chris Nicoll is the game's pitching match-up
