Rockies prevail in extra innings against Orem

The Casper Rockies blew a four-run lead as Orem rallied in the 8th and 9th innings to force extra baseball Tuesday night in Utah. The Owlz are the first team to get to Rockies closer Andrew Johnston this season. Johnston gave up his first two earned runs of the season in the 9th when Orem tied the ballgame.

Casper then prevailed in extra innings, winning 5-4 in 11. Casper is now 3-0 in the second half and 4-0 in extra inning games this season. Byron Binda worked the 10th and 11th for Casper to earn the win.

Starter Alan Johnson was superb as usual. Johnson worked six shutout innings, four of which he no-hit the Owlz. Johnson struck out five and allowed just four hits. For the Rockies offense Mauris Loupadiere was the hero. Lupe' laced a 2-out single in the 11th to score Trevor Allen from second for the games' difference.

The Rockies and Owlz wrap up the series at 7:05 Wednesday night. Brandon Durden pitches for Casper against fellow lefty Kelly Shearer.
