Rockies drop series finale in Great Falls
July 22, 2005 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release
The fourth game in the Casper-Great Falls series was a lot like the first three, very close and anybody's ballgame late. This time, however, Great Falls got the late bounces and beat the Rockies 5-1.
With the score knotted at one, the Rockies committed three eighth inning errors to aid the White Sox four-run inning. Reliever Sean Ruthven gave up the four runs, but only two were earned. He suffered his first loss of the season.
Rockies starter Alan Johnson pitched a solid six innings, striking out five and allowing just one run. Casper as a team managed only five hits on the night, two of them from shortstop Corey Wimberly, who was 2-4.
The Rockies begin the final stretch of the Pioneer League 1st half tonight at home against the Billings Mustangs at 7:05. Lefty Brandon Durden starts for the Rockies.
