Rockford Rampage Coach's Corner

December 2, 2008 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) - Rockford Rampage News Release

ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, DECEMBER 2, 2008 ... As difficult as it was to lose in Sudden Death overtime on Friday, it was that much sweeter to win the same way Sunday night. It was a GREAT feeling to have the roles reversed," stated Coach Jeff Kraft with a smile.

"Winning this game lifted a lot of pressure off our team. It showed the guys that we CAN do it and that we CAN win even in this tougher league. We can have good games, play well, and fight until the end like we did this past Friday night, but unfortunately the score tells it all and let's face it, a loss is a loss. So that's why the win on Sunday was extra special for us as a team.

"Sunday, we found ourselves down again and battling back in the fourth quarter to tie the game and force the Sudden Death overtime. Our two 3-point goals in that last quarter by Semir and Ibrahim saved us and of course Stewy's (Matt Stewart-#11) game winning goal was the key but with that said, we still need to do a MUCH better job marking and finishing our shots. The name of the game in indoors is 'finishing' and we had MORE than our fair share of opportunities to score. We just didn't finish!

"Practice this week will be 'back to basics'. We'll be working on tighter marking, finishing shots and Power Plays most of the time because we know we'll be facing another good team this Saturday.

"Our first game against Baltimore, we didn't play well. We let in some 'cheap goals' and we were down by about 10 points at the half. I think that took the wind out of our sails and we never came back. But we're a MUCH improved team now and we gain confidence with each game we play. I can guarantee one thing this Saturday and that is the game will NOT end with the same score as in Baltimore. We have more confidence about coming back/battling back and now we even know we can win," he concluded.

The Rampage hosts former MISL Champion Baltimore Blast this Saturday, December 6th at 7:05pm at the MetroCentre. The first 300 fans will receive a FREE hat.
