P.E.I. Rocket News Release

The newest member of the PEI Rocket is 18 year old defenseman, Adam Polasek, from the Czech Republic.  The Rocket selected Polasek with their first round pick in today's Euro Draft (19th Overall). Rocket Head Scout, Charles Marier traveled to the World Under 18 Hockey Championship in Fargo, North Dakota to scout Polasek and was very impressed with what he saw.  From that point on, the Rocket targeted the Czech Defenseman.  "We were very pleased to see that he was still available at #19 when we were selecting", said President Serge Savard, Jr.  "We targeted this player due to his physical play and he will be a very solid addition to our blueline", added Savard.

 Adam Polasek

Height: 6-2

Weight: 186 lbs

Birthdate: 1991-07-12  2008-09

Played for Vitkovice in the Czech U20 league. Posted 20 points in 38 games from the back line.  Was a key part of the Czech U18 team at the World Championships, recording five points in six games.  Polasek expressed a desire to play in the CHL next season and the Rocket were able to select him with the 19th overall pick in the European Draft.

Talent Analysis

Listed at 6'2, 190 pounds, Polasek looks bigger both on and off the ice. The Czech has a hard-hitting, and effective, approach to defense. But his skill should not be overlooked. He skates well, has a hard and accurate slapshot, and makes good reads. The Rocket will have one additional pick in the European Draft, 79th Overall.  The pick is scheduled to take place at 11:30 PM Atlantic Time this evening.
