
Rocket Acquire Samuel Morneau

The PEI Rocket announced today that they have acquired 20 year old centreman, Samuel Morneau (1990-02-10) from the Gatineau Olympiques. The Rocket also acquired a 5th round draft pick in 2012 (Gat). In exchange for Morneau and the 5th round pick, the Rocket traded a 4th round pick in 2011 (Bat) and a 2nd round pick in 2012 (PEI).
"This is a very solid offensive threat for us to add to our lineup", said Serge Savard Jr. "Morneau will give us some help in scoring, while at the same time being a very solid two way player with great speed".
Morneau had 30 Goals and 32 assists last season with the Val-d'Or Foreurs in 55 games. He also added 3 goals and 4 assists in 6 playoff games. In his first 8 games this season with the Gatineau Olympiques, Morneau has scored 7 goals and added 3 assists.
Morneau, who was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2008 (7th Round), is expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Rocket visit the Victoriaville Tigres.
The Rocket are currently on a three game road trip in Victoriaville, Rouyn-Noranda, and Val-d'Or. The team will return to the Charlottetown Civic Centre for games on October 16th and 17th when they host the Victoriaville Tigres and Rouyn-Noranda Huskies respectively.
