Rock Drop 12-8 Decision to Knighthawks

Rochester, NY - The Rochester Knighthawks (5-6) defeated the Toronto Rock (9-5) by a score of 12-8 on the strength of goaltender Matt Vinc's 47-save effort at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY on Saturday night.

Nothing went Toronto's way in the opening quarter as Rochester held Toronto scoreless jumping out to a 4-0 lead through 15 minutes.

Garrett Billings answered with a pair of powerplay goals to get the Rock offence rolling the second quarter. Colin Doyle scored to close the gap to a goal, but the Knighthawks stretched the lead back to 2 goals and led 5-3 at the half.

The goaltending duel between Toronto's Nick Rose and Rochester's Matt Vinc continued in the third quarter. The Knighthawks scored twice and held the Rock to just a goal in the frame as the home side led 7-4.

Rock forward Rob Hellyer scored the opening goal of the fourth quarter to once again close to within a goal. From there, Rochester scored the next four goals, including three goals in a span of 45 seconds. Toronto made it interesting late with three goals to make it 11-8, but Rochester scored an empty net goal to seal the victory.

The Rock will wrap up their 2013 regular season home schedule next Sunday, April 7th with Fan Appreciation Day.
