Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The National Lacrosse League announced today that Rochester Knighthawks goalie Pat O'Toole has been selected as the Week Three Overall Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week. San Jose Stealth forward Jeff Zywicki earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, Brodie Merrill was named Transition Player of the Week, and Kyle Wailes was named Rookie of the Week.

O'Toole earned Overall Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in the Knighthawks' 10-6 win over the Toronto Rock Saturday night. O'Toole turned away 51 shots and allowed only six goals in the win.

The veteran goaltender led the Knighthawks defense as they held Toronto scoreless for nearly the entire first half, not surrendering a single goal until 13:20 into the second quarter. Rochester held Toronto to a single goal again in the third quarter before allowing four in the final frame. O'Toole also scooped up three loose balls and added three assists in the win.

The Weekly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the general managers and head coaches of the league's 13 member clubs.

This weekend, Rochester continues its five-game tour of the East Division, as the Knighthawks play their second and third straight games against divisional opponents. On Friday, January 19th, the Knighthawks travel to play the Minnesota Swarm at 8:00 p.m. Xcel Energy Center. On Saturday, Rochester plays the Toronto Rock at 7:30 p.m. at the Air Canada Centre. Both games are available on B2 Networks. There will be no radio coverage for either game. The game in Toronto will be televised live on Rogers Sportsnet.
