(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks announced today that the team has signed first-round draft choice Andrew Potter to a two-year deal. The Knighthawks have also agreed to terms with 2007 draft pick Lucas Miller and free agent Tony Walker. The contracts are pending league approval.

Potter was the 14th overall pick in the National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. The forward was also in the top 20 in scoring in junior lacrosse with 53 points in 17 games (28+25) for St. Catharines. He also won the Gaylord Powless Memorial Award as the league's Most Sportsmanlike Player. He also played in the 2007 OLA Junior "A" All-Star Game.

Miller signed a two-year contract with the Knighthawks. He was Rochester?s fifth-round selection (70th overall) in this past season?s NLL Entry Draft. Miller won the 2007 Minto Cup with the Six Nations Arrows. The defenseman spent two seasons with the Arrows (2005 and 2007) and won two Ontario Championships.

Walker joins the K-Hawks after signing a one-year deal. The forward played under Knighthawks Head Coach Ed Comeau at McMaster University. In 2007, Walker was named the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) Rookie of the Year. The native of Guelph, Ontario, led the Marauders with 21 goals and six assists in nine games this season.

A former member of Guelph's Junior ?B? lacrosse team, Walker also earned an honorable mention as a 2005 All-Canadian at the midfield position, as he narrowly missed out on the league's Second-Team All-Star squad.

The defending champion Knighthawks begin their 14th season with a home-and-home series against the rival Buffalo Bandits. The game is a rematch of last year?s East Division Finals. Rochester opens the season on Friday, January 11th at HSBC Arena. On Saturday, January 12th, the Knighthawks will raise their championship banner prior to hosting the Bandits at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial.

Rochester captured the 2007 NLL Champion?s Cup on May 12th, defeating the Arizona Sting 13-11 at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona. The win was the team?s 15th straight and capped a 17-2 season. The championship was the second in the franchise?s history. The Knighthawks last won the title in 1997.
