Rochester Red Wings News Release
GAME NOTES:
-THE LEAD: Eric Fryer hit a grand slam and Andrew Albers tossed 6.1 shutout innings as the Red Wings routed the Durham Bulls, 11-6, Friday night to earn a split of the 4-game series after losing the first 2 games.
-Eric Fryer's 2nd inning grand slam was the first by a Red Wings player at Frontier Field since August 30, 2008 when Trevor Plouffe took Mark Melancon deep against Scranton/WB... The last grand slam by a Red Wings player came courtesy of Wilkin Ramirez on August 20, 2012 at Pawtucket... The homer for Fryer was his second in as many starts after not hitting a home run since June 7, 2011 prior to Wednesday's game... The grand slam was the first of Fryer's career and the 4 RBI is the most he has recorded in a game since a 6-RBI game back on June 6, 2008 with West Virginia (A).
-Chris Colabello went 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI extending his hitting streak to 9 games over which he is hitting .485 with 10 extra-base hits (7 doubles and 3 homers) and 10 RBI... His other 9-game hitting streak this season ended just 2 days prior to the start of his current streak as he has now recorded a hit in 18 of his last 19 games (.403-5-15)... He has recorded multiple hits in 4 straight games and 6 of 7 overall.
-Andrew Albers picked up his first Triple-A win in his 8th start of the season for the Wings as he extended his streak of not allowing an earned run to 20.2 IP... The last earned runs he allowed came on a 2-run homer to Josh Thole in the 4th inning on April 30 vs Buffalo... Over his last 4 starts, Albers has posted a 0.73 ERA (2 ER/24.2 IP) lowering his season ERA to 2.34 which now ranks 3rd in the International League... The Wings entered the night just 2-5 in Albers' starts and in the 5 losses they had scored a combined 7 runs.
-Antoan Richardson went 3-for-5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI Friday... He's now hitting .381 (8-for-21) in his first 5 games with the Red Wings since being promoted from New Britain on Monday.
