Brach's Super Start Leads Clippers Past Chiefs

Columbus Clippers News Release
A superb pitching performance by right-hander Brett Brach ended a successful road trip on a high note as Columbus dispatched the Chiefs 6-3 at NBT Bank Stadium.
Columbus opened the scoring with a Jeremy Hermida RBI groundout in the top of the first. Syracuse then scored a run on a Chris Marrero RBI single in the bottom of the first.
The Clippers put up a crooked number in the top of the second. Ezequiel Carrera drove home two with a triple off the center field wall. Carrera would later score that inning on a Ryan Perry wild pitch. Columbus further increased their lead with a Juan Diaz two run double in the top of the third.
The run support was more than enough for Columbus right-hander Brett Brach. Brach (W, 1-0), who was called up from Double-A Akron, handcuffed the Chiefs to two runs on six hits while striking out three and walking two in 7 1/3 innings of work. Syracuse would add two in the eighth on a two run double by Corey Brown, but that would be it for the Chiefs as the Clippers clinched a series win over Syracuse and a 6-2 road trip. Ryan Perry (L, 1-4) was hit with the loss for Chiefs.
Columbus comes back to Huntington Park to start an eight game home stand, beginning with four against the Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders. The starters on the mound for both teams have yet to be determined. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
