Rochester Red Wings Post-Game Notes - Lehigh Valley 1, Rochester 0

August 22, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Rochester Red Wings News Release

Rochester Red Wings (66-66)

WINGS NOT GONE WILD: The Red Wings fell to 5.0 games back of International Wild Card-leading Pawtucket (Red Sox) with 12 games remaining.

GOOSE EGGS GALORE: The Red Wings were shut out for the 2nd game in a row and for the 3rd time in the last 4 contests...they were also shut out in back-to-back games June 11-12 at Indianapolis (Pirates).

DIRTY DOZEN: The Red Wings were shut out for the 12th time overall, the 11th time in a 9-inning game...Rochester was shut out at Frontier Field for just the 4th time (all 9-inning games).

THAT'S TOO BAD: Coupled with a 6-0 loss Sunday vs. Empire State (Yankees), the Red Wings have been shut out at home in 2 straight games for the first time since May 27-28, 2007 vs. Durham (Rays) and Richmond (Braves).

WHAT GIVES?: The Red Wings have lost 4 in a row at Frontier Field, one shy of their season-worst 5-game streaks from April 25-May 2 and July 26-August 9.

ON THE BLACKBURNER: Nick Blackburn tossed 7.0 innings of one-run ball in his first start with the Red Wings since being outrighted from Minnesota Monday...he scattered 7 hits, but benefitted from 3 double plays and 2 potential base stealers getting thrown out at second.

THANK YOU: Chris Parmelee's leadoff single in the 4th was the Red Wings' first hit in 12 innings, the first since Eduardo Escobar's single in the first inning Tuesday at Pawtucket (Red Sox).

BAD IDEA: Rene Rivera has thrown out 25 of 71 potential base stealers, a 35-percent success rate.
