Dallas Rattlers News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Rattlers announced their roster today for the 2003 Major League Lacrosse season. The Rattlers 22-man roster boasts several new faces, including 2002 MLL scoring leader Casey Powell and goalie Brian Carcaterra. The league limits each team to a 23-man active roster, with 18 dressing for each contest.

Mike Accursi, Jason Coffman, Pat Dutton, Derek Malawsky, Gewas Schindler and Spencer Wright are also new additions to the Rattlers. Accursi and Dutton were selected from the MLL Player Pool, and Malwsky, Schindler and Wright were chosen in the 2003 MLL Supplemental Draft. Coffman was acquired from the Long Island Lizards.

Despite the infusion of eight new players, the team still has a strong nucleus returning from last season. Ryan Powell enters his third season with the Rattlers after leading the team with 45 points in 2002. Rochester's second and third leading scorers are also back. John Fay (31+6) registered 37 points a year ago and Cory Kahoun (20+6) collected 26 points. The defense also returns Regy Thorpe, Casey Connor, Pat Cougevan, Ryan Mollett, Marshall Abrams and John Glatzel.

Head Coach Guy Van Arsdale enters his third season behind the Rattlers bench. Jacques Monte also begins year three as one of the team's assistant coaches. Rich Barnes joins the staff this season as an assistant. Barnes has worked at Division III Ithaca College for the past six seasons.

Rochester begins the 2003 regular season on Saturday, May 31st against the Bridgeport Barrage at 7:35 p.m. at Bishop Kearney Field. The game will be broadcast on News Talk 950 WROC.
