
Rochester Earns Much-Needed Win

The Rochester Knighthawks earned one of their most impressive victories of the season tonight in a 14-12 win over the top-ranked Calgary Roughnecks. Rochester moved into sole possession of third place in the East Division with the win.
Rochester (6-8) ended its three-game losing streak and avenged last week's loss to Calgary (11-4). The Roughnecks fell to 11-4 and saw their six-game winning streak come to an end.
Johnny Powless recorded his second straight seven-point effort, while Stephen Keogh collected his second straight six-point night. Powless tied his career highs with three goals, four assists and seven points. Keogh also equaled career bests in goals (three) and points. Matt Vinc made 41 saves in the home win.
Shawn Evans and Jeff Shattler led the 'Necks with two goals and four assists apiece. It was Evans' first game back in Rochester since he was traded out west. Rookie goalie Frankie Scigliano made 38 saves in his first professional start.
Rochester broke open the game in the second with five straight goals to take a 7-5 lead after trailing 5-2. The Knighthawks tacked on their sixth in a row just 26 seconds into the third for an 8-5 advantage. Rochester's largest lead of the game was 14-8 in the fourth as Cody Jamieson scored his only goal of the game. The power-play tally at 2:18 made it 14-8.
Rochester travels to play the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, April 21st at 7:30 p.m. The contest will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network. The games are available on Time Warner Cable Channel 232 and in HD on 1027.
Rochester hosts the Philadelphia Wings on Saturday, April 28th at 7:30 p.m. The first 5,000 fans will take home a Knighthawks baseball hat. The K-Hawks will hand out their team awards that night prior to the game.
