Rochester Americans Sign Maxime Legault to AHL Contract

(ROCHESTER, NY)... Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Rochester Americans have signed forward Maxime Legault to an American Hockey League (AHL) contract.

Legault, 22, recorded 24 points (12+12) and 83 penalty minutes in 67 games for the Portland Pirates of the AHL last season. He also collected two points (1+1) in nine Calder Cup Playoff games. A native of Ste. Agathe, Quebec, Legault was selected by the Sabres in the seventh round (194th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6-foot-2, 199-pound Legault made his professional debut with Portland on Oct. 10, 2009 and appeared in five games for the Pirates during the 2009-10 campaign. He split the remainder of the 2009-10 season between Shawinigan and Cape Breton of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), recording 39 points (17+22) in 43 total games. He spent the previous three seasons all with Shawinigan, collecting 73 points (41+32) and 225 PIM in 149 QMJHL games.
