
Roccaro, Rowland, and Speck to Return to NC Courage in 2020

Cary, NC - The North Carolina Courage return a core group of players from their 2019 NWSL Championship team with the signings of Cari Roccaro, Katelyn Rowland, and Meredith Speck. The team announced today that all three players have signed one-year contracts with one-year options. Per club policy, no further details were disclosed.
Roccaro played in 15 matches in 2019 for 920 minutes. As a player who saw time as both a defender and midfielder throughout the season, Roccaro brings versatility to the back-to-back defending champions. After graduating from Notre Dame, Roccaro spent time with the Houston Dash before signing with the Courage in 2017.
Goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland has been with the Courage since the team relocated from Western New York. The Vacaville, Calif. native has played 43 matches in the past three seasons, earning 17 clean sheets. One of her clean sheets came in the 2018 NWSL Championship game, where the Courage defeated the Portland Thorns, 3-0.
Another product of the Western New York Flash, Speck is entering her fourth season in a Courage uniform. During the 2019 season, Speck played in eight matches. She has played a total of 515 minutes over the past three seasons.
The North Carolina Courage kick off their 2020 season at home against the Chicago Red Stars in a rematch of the 2019 NWSL Championship. The match will take place on Saturday, April 18 at 7 p.m. at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park. The full schedule can be found here.
