
Robinson Signs With Storm

TAMPA - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm has signed wide receiver/defensive back and kick return specialist Sedrick Robinson, Head Coach and General Manger Tim Marcum announced today.
"Our special teams just got a lot better," said Marcum. "We were looking for a good return guy and I think that we just signed one the best in the League. He is a dynamic, fast and exciting returner. He will play a big role on our special teams and add depth to our wide receiving corps."
Robinson, 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, is a seven-year veteran in the Arena Football League and the AFL's all-time leader in kickoff returns for a touchdown with 28. He played with the Austin Wranglers in 2007 and led the team in kick returns (64-1300-4), was second in rushing (17-69-6) and fourth in receiving (16-254-3). He also finished second in the AFL in kickoff returns (64), kickoff return yards (1,300) and tied for second in kickoff returns for a touchdown (4).
In 2006 Robinson set Wranglers' single-season highs with 78 kickoff returns, six kickoff returns for a touchdown, 84 combined kick returns (kickoff and missed field goal) and 2,235 all-purpose yards. He finished the season as the AFL all-time leader in kick returns for a touchdown with 24.
Prior to joining the Wranglers he played with the Columbus Destroyers (2004-05), Las Vegas/New Jersey Gladiators (2002-03) and the Houston Thunderbears (2001). While with Columbus he earned team MVP honors in 2004 and was named the AFL's offensive Player of the Month in May of 2004.
He began his professional football career with the Peoria Pirates (1998-2000) in the Indoor Football League (IFL) and won a Gold Cup Championship in 2000. Before joining the Pirates he played baseball in the Cleveland Indians minor league system.
A graduate from Kentucky Wesleyan College, Robinson broke 22 of a possible 27 school records (single game, season and career) for pass receiving, scoring, kickoff and punt returns, including most career receptions (191), most career receiving yards (3,328), most career touchdowns (46) and most career all-purpose yards (5,601). He was named the NCAA Div. II National Offensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-America at wide receiver and kickoff return and Honorable Mention All-America at punt returner by Football Gazette.
The Tampa Bay Storm look forward to the 2008 season as many key players from 2007 will return.
