Robert Gherson Camping with NHL's New York Rangers

Moline, IL-The New York Rangers have invited goaltender Robert Gherson to the team's 2005 Prospect Development Camp beginning today at The Madison Square Garden Training Center. Gherson was named to the 2004-05 UHL All-Rookie team as a member of the Quad City Mallards.

The Rangers Prospect Development Camp began on Monday afternoon and continues until Saturday. The camp features the top young prospects in the Rangers system including Marc Staal, the team's first-round pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Gherson finished 2004-05 with a 2.25 goals against average and .925 save percentage in 45 appearances in the Mallards net. His save percentage tied Jeff Reynaert's 2002-03 mark as the best in franchise history. Gherson recorded a 24-12-7 record in his first pro season. For his efforts, he was named to the UHL All-Rookie Team. During the course of the season, Gherson was honored twice as the UHL Goaltender of the Week.

Rangers Head Coach Tom Renney and his assistants (Perry Pearn, Mike Pelino and Benoit Allaire) will be present at the camp along with former NHLers Adam Graves, Jim Schoenfeld, Ken Gernander and Ulf Samuelsson. Schoenfeld is the Head Coach of the Rangers' American League Affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. Gernander and Samuelsson serve as assistants on Schoenfeld's staff.
