RoadRunners Sweep Springfield Jr. Blues

The RoadRunners needed to win to keep a share of the top of the NAHL South Division. With a little luck, in the way of a loss to the St Louis Bandits, they could recapture the top spot. Lady luck was smiling on the fans of the Topeka team as both were to happen within minutes of each other.

Andy Inderieden is proving to be a valued addition to the team with again scoring the first goal of the night, this time however it was only at the 2:24 mark of the game with some help from Jordan George and Andrew Blazek. Springfield played Topeka close however and would not allow another goal until the second period when Ross Trousdale would light the lamp at the 16:51 mark. Travis Stevens and Matt Hartmann were in on the assist. At the end of the second period Topeka looked to be cruising leading 2-0 and leading shots 32-19.

Up until the 6:47 mark of the third period when Springfield put a small blemish on the night. However it was Bemidji bound Jordan George who would score at the 11:28 mark while the RoadRunners were on a 5-3 power play. Andy Inderieden and Steve Shafer were more then happy to help get the puck to George for the insurance goal.

Final score, 3-1. Cooper Fredrick got his first start as goaltender at Landon Arena, and only his second of the season, now 2-0 on the season. Fredrick turned away 24 of 25 shots on goal and earning one of the three stars of the night along with Jordan George and Andy Inderieden. Attendance for Saturday's game, 2235.

The RoadRunners can enjoy this series sweep, they worked hard to earn it. The rest will be short as they will be on the road next Friday and Saturday to battle the St Louis Bandits. Next home game at Landon Arena will see the RoadRunners face off against the Faribanks IceDogs on Thursday January 15th. Parking is free and general admission ticket prices will be lowered to $5 for the weeknight game.
