March 29, 2016 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Topeka Pilots News Release
Yesterday the players were joined during practice by some fifth grade students from Williams Magnet School. The student had a chance to watch practice and then they were able to get on the ice and skate with a few of the players. The field trip was a reward for everyone's cooperation during their state testing this year. The RoadRunners wish everyone at Williams Magnet School good luck with the rest of their testing!
Later that day the entire team headed over to Crestview United Methodist Church for a Chili Cookoff sponsored by the Topeka RoadRunners Booster Club. Johnny Walker, Jack Nickels, and John O'Connor volunteered to judge the contest. Everyone else was able to just enjoy the delicious food at their own leisure. During the Cookoff they also sang Happy Birthday to Yu Hikosaka, whose birthday was Friday, and presented him with a birthday cake. After the winners were announced and the awards were passed out Tyler Johnson was surprised with a cupcake to the face by one of the RoadRunners staff members. Thank you to everyone who came out and submitted their chili to the contest and congratulations to the winners.
