Phoenix RoadRunners News Release
PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL have announced that defensemen Dave Pszenyczny and Brian Yandle have each agreed to terms on a contract for the upcoming 2007-08 ECHL season.
Pszenyczny, 22, returns to the RoadRunners for a second season after collecting five goals, 21 points, and 94 penalty minutes in just 41 games in 2006-07. The Sterling Heights, Mich. native and second-year pro missed the final 26 games of the regular season and all four post-season games following emergency surgery to replace multiple severed tendons and arteries in his right forearm after being cut by the skate of an opposing player on Feb. 9 in Alaska. Pszenyczny was named as a reserve to the National Conference roster that participated at the 2007 ECHL All Star Game on Jan. 18 in Boise, Idaho. Pszenyczny also appeared in four games and recorded two assists with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, and skated with the Phoenix Coyotes rookie team at the 2006 Pacific Division Shootout in El Segundo, Calif.
Yandle, 24, tallied four goals and 14 points in only 28 games during his rookie season with the RoadRunners in 2006-07. The Milton, Mass. native and second-year pro missed a stretch of 39 games due to injury and did not return to the RoadRunners' line-up until March 13. Yandle was acquired from Trenton on Oct. 20, 2006 in exchange for future considerations. He also appeared in one game with the Worcester Sharks of the AHL. Yandle was a two-time NCAA Second-Team All-American in 2005 and 2006 at the University of New Hampshire. His younger brother, Keith, is a defenseman for the Phoenix Coyotes.
"Both Dave and Brian were great for us during the first half of last season," said RoadRunners Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Church. 'Unfortunately, both guys lost the second half of the year to serious injuries. I'm happy to say that both players have recovered well, and I am very excited to have them back. They will be relied on heavily this season to help revamp our blue line."
Pszenyczny and Yandle join a RoadRunners roster that already includes forwards Daniel Sisca, Jeff Kyrzakos, Chris Stevens, and Mitch Carefoot; defensemen Nathan Schwartzbauer, Reagan Rome, and Nick Toneys; and goaltender Cody Rudkowsky.
The RoadRunners will visit the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League in the "Battle of the Desert" pre-season series at 7:05 p.m. Oct. 12 and 13 at the Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley. Tickets for both pre-season games are on sale now and will be $13 regardless of location in Tim's Toyota Center. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-866-4-GET-TIX (1-866-443-8849), online at www.gettix.net, or in person at the Tim's Toyota Center Box Office.
The RoadRunners return to US Airways Center at 7:11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 when they host the Utah Grizzlies to commence their third season in the desert. Information on season tickets, half-season packages, and flex plans for the 2007-08 season of Phoenix RoadRunners Hockey are available by calling (602) 462-GOAL.
