Roadrunners 2013 Schedule Set

Edinburg, Texas --- The Edinburg Roadrunners 2012 ULB Champions announce their 2013 schedule. They will play 80 games against five opponents from Texas and Louisiana, while the season will run from late May into the middle of August.

The Roadrunners open the new season on the road on Thursday, May 23 in Fort Worth. They continue on to San Angelo starting the season with an eight game road trip. Opening Night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium will be Saturday, June 1 when the Roadrunners host the Cats on McAllen Family Urgent Care Schedule Magnet Night.

Among the highlights of the 48-game home schedule are seven Thirsty Thursdays and seven Twofer Tuesdays with other promotions including fireworks, giveaway nights and special community events. The Roadrunners also play 23 weekend games (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at Edinburg Baseball Stadium this summer.

"A 48-game home schedule gives our fans many opportunities to enjoy our style of affordable family entertainment," Roadrunners General Manager Doug Leary said. "The large number of weekend dates will once again give us a chance to put together a large promotional schedule and give our fans many special nights to plan on being with us at the ballpark this summer."

Game times are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 6:05 p.m. on Sundays. Gates for every Roadrunners home game open one hour prior to first pitch.

This year marks the 13th season of professional baseball in Edinburg and eighth in the United League Baseball (ULB). The last couples of years the Roadrunners were in the United League Division of the North American League, but will be back to their ULB roots exclusively in 2013.

There will also be one new team in the league as the Alexandria Aces return after a five year absence.

"We are excited about our new addition to the league this year," Leary said. "The Aces will make two trips to the RGV this summer and give our fans more variety of competition. This addition also helps solidify the league as we move forward."
