Camden Riversharks News Release

The Camden Riversharks defeated the York Revolution tonight, by a final score of 7-1. Camden starter Josh Brey (8-7) picked up the win, as he allowed just 1 run on 4 hits in 8 solid innings of work. York's Dan Foli (5-14) suffered the loss, as he gave up 6 runs and 6 hits in 5.1 innings pitched. With the win, the Riversharks' second half tally improves to 25-33, while the Revolution's falls to 24-35.

The Riversharks exploded for five runs in the second inning and broke the game open. After loading the bases, York's Dan Foli hit catcher John Purdom to drive in the first run of the game. The next batter was second baseman Brian Finegan, who crushed a bases clearing double to deep center field that scored three more runs. Camden would tack on one more run in the inning, courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Chris Walker that made the score 5-0.

The Sharks would add to their lead in the 6th inning. Shortstop Bryant Nelson would pick up his 56th RBI of the year with a double to center that scored Finegan, and gave the home team a 6-0 advantage.

The Revolution would finally get on the scoreboard in the 7th inning. An RBI single by left fielder Matt Esquivel would score Tom Collaro and make the score 6-1. But Camden would take the run right back the following inning, courtesy of another RBI single by Nelson, that scored Wayne Lydon.

With a 7-1 lead in the 9th inning, the Sharks put the ball in the hands of closer Brian Reith, who retired the side and preserved the win for the home team.

The Riversharks and Revolution will wrap up their three game series tomorrow night at 7:05pm. Lefty Ryan DiPietro (5-9, 4.82) will take the mound for Camden, and he will be opposed by lefty Daryl Harang (7-12, 4.08) from York. Limited seating for the game is still available.
