Riversharks Close Gap in Bottom of Ninth, but Fall to the Revolution

Despite the final attempts in the bottom of the ninth, the ‘Sharks were defeated by the York Revolution by a one run margin. Starting pitcher, Shane Youman (2-4) was awarded the win, while relief pitcher, Sean Stidfole picked up the save. Josh Brey was charged with the loss. The Sharks still remain first in the division. The visiting Revolution jumped out ahead again in tonight's matchup. More than half of their runs were scored in two innings. Ramon Castro quickly singled to drive in the first unearned run of the game that began from a Chris Malec misread on the catch. A pair of runs was tacked on in the second to give York a 3-0 lead. John Pachot singled to left field followed by Chuck Jeroloman sending a triple to right field Pachot would stroll through home plate on the play. Lui Rodriguez gave the Revolution their first out in the top half of the frame, though the hit to left field was still enough to drive in Jeroloman.

York extended their lead with back to back runs in the fourth and fifth. Jeroloman, who went 3-4 for the day ripped a double all the way back against the wall. He would conclude York's scoring for the evening as Lui Rodriguez's singled down the third base line. It was last opportunity for the Sharks to put some runs, and hits, on the board. Jim Heuser led off the bottom of the inning walking the first three batters. Brian Burgamy stepped to the plate with the bases loaded, no out situation. With a 2-1 count, Burgamy blasted a grand slam over the back wall, putting the Sharks only one run behind visitors. Chris Malec put the win within reach as he doubled to right field, and then advanced on a .arrett Guzman putout at first. Jorge Piedra got the second out, Cesar Suarez was intentionally walked, and the final strikeout of the evening was from catcher, Shea Harris. The Sharks left the tying run on base and dropped their second game to the Revolution.
