CAMDEN, N.J. - The Camden Riversharks announced the signing of former MLB righthanded pitcher Mike MacDougal today. MacDougal joins the team after spending 2013 with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (AAA-Phillies).

A veteran of five Major League clubs (KCR, CHW, WSN, STL, LAD), the 37-year old embarks on his first Atlantic League season. In 2003, his first full-time season with the big-league club, MacDougal was voted an MLB All-Star for the Royals, earning a career-high 27 saves.

MacDougal was equally impressive in 2005, when he posted a 3.33 ERA while striking out a career-high 72 batters in 68 appearances.

"Adding a player like Mike to our bullpen was an opportunity that we just could not pass up," said Riversharks manager Ron Karkovice. "We see him having great success in this league and making a big impact for our club."

Between 2001 and 2012, MacDougal appeared in at least 3 games at the major league level each year. He brings an 18-23 record and 4.00 ERA in 407 games across 12 major league seasons to the Riversharks stable, along with 71 career saves.

The Riversharks home opener is on May 2nd, 2014 at 7:05. Ticket information is available on www.riversharks.com.
