Erie Explosion News Release

(Erie, PA) - This Sunday, the Erie RiverRats will be celebrating both Mother's Day and hopefully, their first win of the season, when the Baltimore Mariners come to town to face the RiverRats at the Tullio Arena with kickoff scheduled for 4 PM.

The Mariners (4-3) currently sit in second place in the American Indoor Football Association's Northern Division. This is the second matchup between the two teams, with Baltimore having taken the season opener in Baltimore by the score of 60-32. The Mariners are coming off a 37-27 victory over Harrisburg last week, and Erie returns home following a 58-28 loss on the road to the Fayetteville Guard in a game where they were missing 11 starters.

Looking to get even with the Mariners, Erie anticipates the return of many of their missing starters from their last game in Fayetteville, including quarterback Darmel Whitfield, offensive linemen Anthony Peluso and Cyrus Kersey, defensive tackle Dave Smith, and defensive back Raji El-Amin. However, the 'Rats will be without the services of DB Levonne Rowan and LB Glenroy Watkins, both out for personal reasons, and WR Chris Kolokithas is questionable for the game with a deep knee bruise,

Erie signed three new players, who are all expected to see action this weekend, including WR Greg Johnston (5'10"-190), LB Ronnell Lee (6'2"-260), and OL Bill Jones (5'11"-300), all from Malone College of Ohio.

This will be the second consecutive year that the RiverRats will be hosting a game on Mothers Day weekend and once again, the RiverRats will be giving out a free 7-day, 6-night cruise to a lucky Mom, courtesy of Certified Commercial Travel of Jamestown, NY. Throughout the evening, there will be several gifts and prizes given out to our Moms in attendance. So be sure to bring out your favorite Mom for a day of family, football and fun at the Tullio Arena in Erie this Sunday, May 10th. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 PM.

Tickets can be purchased at the Tullio Arena Box Office or at Ticketmaster outlets. For more information about the RiverRats, please visit us at our home on the web at www.erieriverrats.com.
