Erie Explosion News Release
ERIE, PA - (2/10/09) With training camp just around the corner the Erie RiverRats will host their final tryout before the 2009 AIFA season. The tryout will be held on Sunday, February 22nd at the Family First Sports Golf Dome on Oliver Road in Erie, Pennsylvania. Registration will be at 4pm with the tryout beginning at 5pm. The entrance fee is $50 at the door, or $45 if players pre-register on the Erie RiverRats website at www.erieriverrats.com. Players should wear comfortable athletic shoes (no cleats), and workout clothing to the tryout. T-shirts will be provided.
Head Coach Steven G. Folmar expects a few spots for training camp to be earned during the final tryout. "We have invited a few guys back from other workouts and we expect to see some fresh faces from the Erie area coming out to compete as well. This is the last chance that many of these athletes are going to get to show us what they've got". Coach Folmar and his staff will be on hand to test athletes in the 40-yard dash, pro shuttle, and vertical jump. Participants will then move into more position specific drills. Players who make the training camp roster will then have to report for training camp just two days later on February 24th.
The AIFA season begins its third season of operations in March with 16 teams from coast to coast and two additional franchises (Richmond, VA and Trenton, NJ) scheduled for the 2010 season.
