ERIE, PA - (1/17/09) This past Friday, the Erie RiverRats professional football team took time out of their training camp preparation to speak with classes at Neason Hill Elementary School in Meadville, Pa. Head coach Steven G. Folmar, assistant coach Ed Marin and Rats players DaJuan Smith and Tony Hammer spent the morning speaking to classes about sportsmanship, honesty, integrity and respect. Students also were able to ask questions about the differences between indoor football and outdoor football, what it's like to play professional football and much more. RiverRat defensive end/linebacker DaJuan Smith was impressed by the quality of questions coming from the students at Neason Hill, "These little guys had some really good questions. It is a lot of fun to go into schools and see the game from someone else's view." Hammer, whose brother Robert is entering his third season with the Erie professional football team as well, also felt humbled by the questions that the students asked, "It's a great feeling when you are able to talk to kids about doing something you love". The RiverRats have since been rewarded by cards and letters from the students at Neason Hill. Expect to see members of the Erie RiverRats professional football team in your community soon!

The Erie RiverRats' season begins in March with a home opener scheduled for March 28th at 7 p.m. at the Tullio Arena.
