Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Riverhawks took advantage of 5 turnovers by the Pittsburgh RiverRats and a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown, to win their first AIFA matchup, by a score of 43-13.

Both teams traded touchdowns at the start of the game with Johnstown (3-2) taking a 14-7 lead late in the first quarter. Pittsburgh (2-4) drove down to the Riverhawks' 2-yard line but were denied the tying touchdown after a fumble by Pittsburgh's David Dinkins that Johnstown recovered. On the ensuing drive, Johnstown took a 2-touchdown lead it would never relinquish, on a 11-yard pass from QB Jarrod Highberger to WR Michael Caputo.

In his second start, RiverRats QB Niel Loebig completed 16 of 30 passes for 157 passes and 2 touchdowns, but threw 3 interceptions and was sacked 4 times. WR Beau Gibbs caught a touchdown pass in his debut with Pittsburgh, and WR Garvin Graves recorded the other RiverRats touchdown in his return to the RiverRats after missing 3 games with an injured hamstring.

The teams will face each other for a second time on Friday, March 30, at the Rostraver Ice Garden Arena in Belle Vernon, PA.
