Peoria, Ill. (June 16, 2005) - St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President & General Manager Larry Pleau and Peoria Rivermen President/CEO Bart Rogers unveiled today the Rivermen home and away jerseys for their first season in the American Hockey League (AHL) for the upcoming 2005-2006 season. The Rivermen are the proud new primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues with a five-year affiliation agreement and an additional five-year option.
The home white jerseys will feature the new Rivermen primary logo on the center chest with navy blue (Navy PMS 282) mesh gusseting, which begins at the base of the jersey and runs up each side before concluding at the forearm on the underside of each sleeve. The top hem and the forearm of each sleeve are striped in gold (Sunflower PMS 123), navy and white. The bottom hem is a two-inch swath of navy blue. Each arm is lined in gold piping on both sides from the neck to the forearm. Each shoulder features the St. Louis Blues primary Blue Note mark in royal blue (Royal PMS 287) and each upper arm includes the player number in royal blue outlined in gold and navy blue. The collar is outlined in navy blue and gold, while the jersey is brought together at the neck with three eyelets and a lace.
The away royal blue jerseys will feature the new Rivermen primary logo on the center chest with the same navy blue mesh gusseting, which begins at the base of the jersey and runs up each side before concluding at the forearm on the underside of each sleeve. The top hem and the forearm of each sleeve are striped in gold, navy and white. The bottom hem is a two-inch swath of navy blue. Each arm is lined in gold piping on both sides from the neck to the forearm. Each shoulder features the St. Louis Blues primary Blue Note mark in navy blue and each upper arm includes the player number in gold outlined in navy blue and white. The collar is outlined in navy blue and gold, while the jersey is brought together at the neck with three eyelets and a lace.
On both jerseys, the RBK Hockey logo will be featured in white on the yoke (back of the neck) and on the lower right back hem of the jersey. The AHL secondary mark will also be featured on the lower right back hem of the jersey.
"We are thrilled to introduce these unique and vibrant jerseys for the Peoria Rivermen, as we prepare to launch a new era of professional hockey here in this city during the 2005-2006 season," Pleau said. "The overall design, enhanced logo and new color scheme accurately signify the close ties between the St. Louis Blues and our new American Hockey League affiliate. We believe that younger and older fans alike will thoroughly enjoy seeing this new version of the Rivermen sweater on their favorite players, and will be proud to wear it as well."
"The Blues took a fantastic approach to making it happen with the creation of our new jerseys," Rogers said. "The idea was to develop a similar look and feel of the Blues jerseys and they've succeeded resoundingly. Players will be wearing a sweater that helps give them the sense that they're just one step away from the NHL and that Blues sweater."
During the 2005-2006 season, all AHL teams will wear white jerseys at home and dark jerseys on the road.
Rivermen players Brendan Brooks, who skated in Peoria during parts the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 ECHL seasons, Jay McClement and Jeff Hoggan were on hand at the team's Thursday afternoon press conference to don the jerseys.
The Rivermen, proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, are a member of the American Hockey League, which serves as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. The AHL had more than 7 million fans attend games across North America during the 2004-2005 season.
The Rivermen begin play in the 2005-2006 AHL season in October at Carver Arena at the Peoria Civic Center in Downtown Peoria, Ill.
