
Rivermen Add Defenseman David Shields

Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the club has signed defenseman David Shields to an amateur tryout contract (ATO).
Shields, 20, has spent the past four seasons with the Ontario Hockey League's (OHL) Erie Otters where he has made 250 appearances, amassing 67 points including 15 goals and 52 assists. This season, the 6'3, 218-pound defenseman has played in 61 games ranking second among Erie defensemen with a career high 27 points (six goals, 21 assists).
He also appeared in seven playoff games in the Otters Western Conference Quarterfinals loss to the Windsor Spitfires. He had a goal and four assists with four penalty minutes. The Buffalo, New York native was drafted by the Blues in the sixth round, 168th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
