SOUTHAVEN, MS --- Memphis RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin McClelland announced today that the Central Hockey League team has signed forward Chad Wilcox for the 2006-2007 season. Wilcox played 20 games last season with Thetford Mines Prolab of the LNAH in Canada and then six games with the Flint Generals of the United Hockey League.

"I have heard a lot of good things about the RiverKings," Wilcox said. "I played with Leo Thomas (brother of former RiverKing Kahlil Thomas) in Flint and he said Memphis is a professionally run organization."

The six-foot-two, 230 pound Wilcox will be a physical presence on the ice.

"I see myself in the role of an enforcer," he said. "If there is a dirty job to do, I am the guy to do it. I am also excited to play for coach McClelland because he was the kind of player that I am."

Wilcox's only professional experience came last season. In his 20 games with Thetford Prolab, he had a goal, an assist and 94 penalty minutes. Following the LNAH season, he hooked on with Flint to close out the UHL season; collecting 21 penalty minutes in six games.

Earlier this month, he was chosen by the expansion Bloomington Prairie Thunder in the UHL expansion draft. Rather than returning to the UHL, he decided to sign with the RiverKings.

Wilcox played college hockey at Division III Courtland of the SUNY and Weber State of the ACHA. Prior to college, he played junior hockey in Salt Lake City in the WSHL.

The Las Vegas, NV native was also in camp with the hometown Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL prior to the 2002-2003 season.

The RiverKings have now signed seven players for the upcoming 2006-2007 season.
