RiverKings In The Mid-South Update

(Southaven, MS) --- Here's a capsule look at upcoming events where you'll find representatives of your Mississippi RiverKings in the next few weeks.

This Thursday, August 13th, RiverKings forward Louis Dumont will make an appearance at the Southaven Rotary Club meeting, which begins at noon. The meeting will take place at the Southaven Holiday Inn, located at 280 Marathon Way, south of Goodman Road and east of Airways Boulevard. Dumont will speak about his experiences in hockey and will also touch on the RiverKings' "Assists for Autism" program.

Saturday, August 15th, RiverKings mascots will be appearing during the 27th Elvis Presley International 5K Run, Rock and Roll, which begins at the gates of Graceland (3734 Elvis Presley Blvd. in Memphis). You'll find the mascots encouraging the event runners between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM. The event itself takes place between 8 AM and 12 noon. The "Elvis Week" activity benefits United Cerebral Palsy of the Mid South and Special Olympics. More information on the event can be found at www.elvispresleyrunandwalk.com.

The following day, on Sunday afternoon, August 16th, you'll find the RiverKings mascots appearing at the Memphis Youth Hockey League's first annual exposition at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. The event will include demonstrations, hands-on activities, a used equipment sale, and league registration. Hours are from 1 PM to 5 PM and more information can be found at www.memphisyouthhockey.com.

Some of the other activities the RiverKings will be involved in during the next month or so will include the North Mississippi Down Syndrome Awareness picnic on Saturday, September 12th at the Goodman Oaks Church of Christ and "Play Day in the Park at Conger Park in Hernando on Saturday, September 26th.

Another event to put on your calendar is the 6th annual RiverKings Golf Scramble, presented by Emergency Mobile Health Care (EMHC), to be played this year at Hernando Hills Country Club at 1000 Bradley Drive in Hernando. Members of the RiverKings and coach Kevin "Killer" Kaminski will be on hand to play and meet participants and fans. The day-long activity begins at 11:30 AM with registration and lunch, followed by a shotgun start at 1 PM. The tournament benefits Hernando Youth Sports and the Jr. StreetKings roller hockey program. Registrations are now being taken for the four-person golf scramble and for more information, call the RiverKings at 662-342-1755.
