
Riverhounds Take To The Ice In The Off Season

PITTSBURGH (January 3, 2013) - With the start of the official 2013 Pittsburgh Riverhounds season just a few months away, some of its team members are here in Pittsburgh, and ready to warm up! Professional members of the team, as well as youth players from its Academy, will be at Penguins Pond public skate Saturday, January 5, starting at 6 PM.
"The Penguins Pond is a great reason for our hometown Riverhounds to get into the cold, and to introduce Highmark Stadium to sports fans, " said Melissa Lazar, President/CEO of Highmark Stadium. "With the anticipation of the new season in a new stadium we call home, we want all of Pittsburgh to feel our excitement."
Penguins Pond sits temporarily on the field of Highmark Stadium, with the City of Pittsburgh, as its backdrop through January 13. General admission $7/person, $3 for skate rentals if needed.
Sunday, January 6, public skate hours are 3 - 7 PM; Iceburgh, mascot of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as well as AMO, mascot of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, will be at Penguins Pond for fans young and old to enjoy, this day from 4 - 5:30 PM.
