Augusta RiverHawks News Release
The Augusta RiverHawks announced Thursday that they have signed forward Kevin Fukala. Fukala comes from the team after playing 17 games for the Bloomington PrairieThunder of the Central Hockey League.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Fukala is known for his toughness and grit, picking up 46 penalty minutes in 17 games for the PrairieThunder. Before leaving Bloomington he ranked second amongst forwards in the CHL with six fighting majors so far this season.
"Kevin comes extremely highly recommended by his coach in Bloomington," said RiverHawks Head Coach Brad Ralph. "He is a very tough player that gives 100% every shift, and he is a very good skater for a guy his size. We are excited to add him to our roster."
Prior to starting his professional career he played four seasons at the University of Central Oklahoma where he racked up 200 penalty minutes in 72 games. The Elgin, Illinois native will join the team immediately and dress for the Friday, December 10th game against the Huntsville Havoc.
To make room on the roster for Fukala the RiverHawks have placed forward Chris Ferazzoli on waivers. Each Southern Professional Hockey League team will have the opportunity to place a claim on his rights. If no team does Ferazzoli will be a free agent.
In 18 games with the RiverHawks his season Ferazzoli had three goals and eight assists.
The RiverHawks are back in action at the James Brown Arena Friday, December 10th and Saturday, December 11th. The puck drops at 7:30pm both nights. Fans who donate a new, unwrapped toy to Toys for Tots at the James Brown Arena box office will receive $2.00 off a ticket.
