Augusta RiverHawks News Release

The Augusta RiverHawks Hockey Club, proud member of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), has announced that they have re-signed forward Lucas Labelle for the 2011-12 season.

Labelle, 22, played all 56 games with the RiverHawks last season, his second professional campaign. The feisty forward made solid offensive contributions scoring 14 goals and adding 15 assists for 29 points in 56 games. He managed that while playing with an edge, racking up 95 penalty minutes over the course of the season.

The 5'-9", 185-pound winger came to the RiverHawks with a strong professional and junior resume. Labelle played just two games during the 2009-10 season, but split time between the Central Hockey League and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League the year prior.

"Lucas was a very important part of the equation last year," said RiverHawks Head Coach Brad Ralph. "He is a character player, plays hard and wears his heart on his sleeve. We'll be looking for Lucas to come in and instantly contribute offensively, play well at both ends of the ice and lead by example on and off the ice."

The RiverHawks open the Southern Professional Hockey League's season with a home game against the Mississippi Surge in a rematch of the 2010-11 President's Cup Final. The game will be played on Phoenix Refrigeration Ice at the James Brown Arena on Thursday, October 20th at 7:35pm.

Season tickets are still available for the 2011-12 season and can be purchased through the RiverHawks' front office at 706-993-2645. Information on the team and tickets is available at www.augustariverhawks.com.
