RiverHawks Re-Sign Curtis Megginson
July 26, 2011 - SPHL (SPHL)
Augusta RiverHawks News Release
The Augusta RiverHawks Hockey Club has announced that Curtis Megginson has re-signed for the 2011-12 season.
"From day one Curtis impressed us with his heart and determination. Curtis quietly goes about his business, is a character guy and plays with his heart on his sleeve," said RiverHawks Head Coach Brad Ralph. "He was the unsung hero award winner last season, but we expect Curtis to build off a great rookie season, establish himself as a tough defender and become a threat from the point."
Megginson, 22, scored three goals and recorded 16 assists for a total of 19 points in 51 games with the RiverHawks. The North Bay, Ontario native was used in all situations in his rookie season and posted a plus-minus rating of +5, while limiting himself to just 29 penalty minutes.
Prior to joining the RiverHawks the 5-11, 200-pound Megginson spent time with the Port Hope Predators of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. Megginson endeared himself to his teammates and RiverHawks fans alike through his tireless work ethic on the ice, and his commitment to the community off the ice.
Megginson was first introduced to RiverHawks' fans at the team's 2010 Free Agent Camp. During that camp he beat out 40-plus attendees to earn a spot in the RiverHawks' main training camp. Though he was a long-shot to make the team, he immediately impressed team management with his poise and skating ability, and he won a spot on the opening night roster, a spot that he never gave up.
Season tickets are on sale for the 2011-12 season and are available through the RiverHawks' front office at 706-993-2645. Information on the team is available at www.augustariverhawks.com.
