March 8, 2011 - SPHL (SPHL)
Augusta RiverHawks News Release
The Augusta RiverHawks clinched a playoff spot in their first SPHL season with a 4-2 victory over the Fayetteville FireAntz Tuesday night in Fayetteville, NC.
Forwards Branden Kosolofsky and Neil Graham each had a goal and an assist, while defenseman Joe Tolles added a pair of assists to lead the RiverHawks offensively. Goaltender Jon Olthuis won his second straight start by making 30 saves.
The win gives the RiverHawks 58 points on the season, good for second in the SPHL. They sit four points up on third-place and defending SPHL Champions Huntsville Havoc, and four points back of the Mississippi Surge.
The FireAntz currently sit in seventh position, one out of the playoffs. They are 16 points back of the RiverHawks, and have only six games left to be played, making it impossible for the RiverHawks to be eliminated from playoff contention.
Kosolofsky's goal in the third period turned out to be the game winner. It was the RiverHawks' third of the night, and Kosolofsky quickly followed it up by setting up Neil Graham for the fourth and final goal of the night.
