
Riverhawks extend winning streak to seven games

The Quad City Riverhawks took their show on the road on Saturday even though they were the home team. The Riverhawks had to move their game to Rockridge High School with the IHSA team state dual wrestling championships being moved from Northern Illinois University to Wharton Fieldhouse. Chicago came to town and the Riverhawks did not disappoint their new fans with a 113-96 victory over the Chicago Throwbacks. A crowd of 500 showed up and got a first hand look at the Western conference leaders. Quad City jumped on the Throwbacks early with a 34-16 first quarter lead. Their lead grew to twenty by half with a 57-37 advantage. The game is in control the entire game as the Riverhawks finished off the Throwbacks. Quinnel Brown led the Riverhawks with 23 points with a rare start. Dave Bancroft and Bobby Anderson both had double doubles with Bancroft scoring 14 and add 13 rebs. While Anderson had 11 pts and 13rebs.
On Sunday the Riverhawks returned home to Wharton Fieldhouse to take on the Reading Railers who on the previous night upsetting the Rochester Razorsharks. A rare feat for the Riverhawks scoring less than 100 points but the Riverhawks still came out on top with a 96-93 victory extending their winning streak to seven games. Antiony Hardin lead the way with 20 points for the Riverhawks but Bobby Anderson continued his double double streak to two games by adding 15 points and 14 rebs.
The Riverhawks return home this Friday night Feb.29th to take on the Arkansas Impact.
