Quad City Riverhawks News Release
Davenport, IA- The Quad City Riverhawks made their final preparations for the 2008 PBL Playoffs this weekend with games against the Jacksonville Slam and the Chicago Throwbacks.
On Saturday night the Riverhawks (15-4) Slammed Jacksonville (7-10) with a 143-111 victory. Quad City put on an aerial show including several thunderous alley-oops which awed the crowd on "Fan Appreciation Night." Keith Gaydon made his return to the hardwood after spending the last few games out with back problems. He made the most of his return with 30 points and five rebounds.
Forward Johnny Cox was impressive in the paint with 20 points including 4 of 5 from the free throw line. Point Guard Lonnie Randolph continues to get back to his All-Star form coming two rebounds short of a triple double finishing with 12 points, 10 assist and 8 rebounds.
On Sunday the Riverhawks traveled to Chicago for the regular season finale against the Chicago Throwbacks and the results were not good. Quad City jumped out all over Chicago and led as much as 25 points in the first half. But the lead quickly diminished and the game went into overtime. Coach Farrow stated " This was the most selfish we have played all year long and it is upsetting how well we have been playing to end the year like this. We will regroup and will be ready for the Western Division Championship playoff game on Thursday." Ty Johnson led the Riverhawks with 23 points and Ryan Edwards also notched 22 points in the losing effort. Willie Mitchell added a double double for the Riverhawks with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
