November 6, 2003 - NBA G League (G League)
Columbus Riverdragons News Release
COLUMBUS, Ga.âThe Columbus Riverdragons announced today that all 46 regular-season and possible post-season games will be broadcast live on radio station Boomer 95.3 FM during the upcoming 2003-04 National Basketball Development League season. In addition to being the flagship station for all game broadcasts, Boomer 95.3 will also be the home of the new "Jeff Malone Radio Show", a weekly one-hour talk show featuring Riverdragons head coach Jeff Malone that will air on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. from the Smokey Bones BBQ located in the Columbus Park Crossing.
"No doubt that it is important to reach as many fans as possible through different mediums of communication", said Riverdragons Team President J. Barry McMullin. "By partnering with Boomer 95.3 our intention is for Riverdragons fans from Newnan to Montgomery to be tuned in to every move on the court. The Riverdragons organization has tremendous appreciation for the vision and enthusiasm of Chuck Thompson, the Archway Broadcasting staff, and the late, great Greg Delmonaco."
WRLD FM, Boomer 95.3 is the Chattahoochee Valley's "Good Time Oldies Station" and the Valley's home for good times and great oldies. It targets Adults 35-64, or what we like to call "BOOMERS". Archway Broadcasting asked the public, "What kind of radio station would you like?" they answered and Archway delivered. Boomer is unique in sound and flavor featuring sounds from the 50's, 60's & early 70's.
Al Vicente Quetzal/JPMorgan Partners, LLC formed Archway Broadcasting Group for the purpose of acquiring radio stations in small to medium-sized markets. Collectively, Archway's principals bring over fifty years of successful broadcasting and advertising experience with companies including Pamal Broadcasting, Liberty Broadcasting, Clear Channel Radio, Cumulus and The Cromwell Group. The combined expertise in the areas of sales, finance, programming and operational management establishes the Company with a superior team to bolster overall operating and investment prospects.
"This marriage between Boomer 95.3 & the NBDL is the next logical step for the Columbus Riverdragons," said Vice President and Market Manager for Archway Broadcasting Chuck Thompson. "It provides fast-paced exciting entertainment both courtside and on the airwaves at Boomer 95.3 FM. This will continue the evolution of sports-marketing entertainment in the Valley area."
The "Jeff Malone Radio Show" featuring Riverdragons Head Coach and two-time NBA All-Star Jeff Malone, will include interviews with Riverdragons players, NBDL league officials, NBA league officials, NBA scouts, and personalities from across the basketball world. Airing at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday nights, fans will be able to call in and discuss the 2003-04 Riverdragons season and news from around the NBDL and NBA. Riverdragons fans can also be part of the live audience at the brand new Smokey Bones BBQ, located at 5555-G Whittlesey Blvd. in the Columbus Park Crossing shopping center.
Tim Becwar returns for his second season as the "Voice of the Riverdragons" and will provide the play-by-play call for all live game broadcasts plus host the pre-game, halftime, and post-game shows during each broadcast. Becwar also will serve as the host of the "Jeff Malone Radio Show" on Wednesday nights.
