
Riverdragons to Give Fans Inside Look at Draft Day

COLUMBUS, Ga.âThe Columbus Riverdragons will be hosting their second annual NBDL Draft Party on Thursday, November 6th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at their Uptown Columbus offices, located 18 East 11th Street. The event will provide fans, season ticket holders, corporate partners, and local media with an inside look at a draft day "War Room", where Head Coach Jeff Malone and Assistant Coach Rob Werdann will make their selections during the 2003 NBDL Draft. Riverdragons mascot Rivvy D, along with members of the River Rage Dance Team, and members of the Riverdragons front office staff will be on hand to meet and greet attendees.
Starting at 7:00 p.m., the draft will be conducted via telephone conference call hookup between NBDL draft headquarters at the Hilton Garden Hotel in Duluth, Ga., and each of the six NBDL markets. Riverdragons Draft Party attendees will have a chance to watch and listen to the Riverdragons coaching staff make their selections, as Columbus holds the #2 pick overall, behind the Huntsville Flight who have the #1 pick.
Fans will also be able to follow the 10-round draft on the internet at NBDL.com, which will have an updated NBDL.com Draft Board, plus a live ticker of the first picks. In addition, fans will be able to listen to the draft live during the early rounds via streaming audio. NBA Director of Scouting Marty Blake, along with son and partner Ryan, will provide expert commentary on each of the draft selections.
Each NBDL team will have one pick in each of the 10 rounds on Thursday. No trades are allowed during the draft as per NBDL rules and only players who have signed NBDL Standard Player Contracts are eligible to be drafted.
The NBDL, the NBA's minor league, includes the Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), Charleston Lowgators (S.C.), Huntsville Flight (Ala.), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.), Columbus Riverdragons (Ga.), and Asheville Altitude (N.C.).
