Columbus Riverdragons News Release

COLUMBUS, GA., (November 6, 2002) – The Columbus Riverdragons of the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) trimmed their 2002 training camp roster from 25 players to 15, Riverdragons head coach Jeff Malone announced today.

The Riverdragons waived Terrell Bell, C (Georgia); David Capers, G (St. Bonaventure); Lenny Cooke, G (Brooklyn, N.Y.); Chad Criss, G (Gardner Webb, N.C.); Kwame James, F (Evansville, Ind.); Dave Korfman, C (UC Irvine); D.A. Layne, G (Georgia); Carl Mitchell, F (Northern Kentucky); Adam Hall, G (Virginia); Marcus Taylor, G (Michigan St.).

"I had to make some tough decisions today," said Malone. "All 25 of theses guys have busted their tails this week. No one was released due to lack of effort. Now we turn our attention to working on our offensive sets and defensive traps and see how we do this weekend."

The Riverdragons must cut their roster to 10 by Thursday, November 14 – the day prior to opening the regular season against the defending NBDL Champion Greenville Groove at the BI-LO Center in Greenville, S.C.

The Riverdragons 15-man roster will compete for the first time as a unit this Saturday, November 9 in the Riverdragons preseason opener - also against Greenville. Originally scheduled at the Columbus Civic Center, the game will be held at the Lumpkin Center on the campus of Columbus State University. Tip-off is 7 p.m.

Portions of the game's proceeds will go to local chapters of the United Way. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for CSU Students and kids 12 & under. For more information call (706) 225-1100 or visit columbusriverdragons.com.
